Brazil Supreme Court rules in favour of Indigenous land rights advocates

Brazil's leaders have been among many making commitments to the environment at the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Summit.

But away from New York, the country's indigenous groups have been anxiously awaiting a ruling on land claims they say impacts their capacity to protect the environment.

They now have their verdict: a majority on Brazil's Supreme Court has voted against a cut-off date limiting Indigenous land claims.
