Venezuela's Maduro entrenches power after opposition boycotts election
Opposition leaders arrested, boycotts called, and neighbours angered: Venezuela's governing party has kept its legislative majority in elections that have courted controversy at home and abroad.
Around a third of eligible Venezuelan voters backed President Nicolas Maduro's party after more than half of eligible voters didn't even turn up.
Meanwhile, Venezuela resisted calls from the UN when it decided to also hold the ballot in areas that neighbouring Guyana claims as its own territory.
